With a slew of new ways to transfer standard biz card data between smartphones, iPhones or Blackberrys, is the paper stock biz card dead?
Thought not mentioned in the article, iPhones can also grab a free app called “Bump” – when you meet another iPhone user who also has “Bump”, you simply do a fist bump with your iPhones in your bumping hand and your contact info automatically transfers between the two devices.

It is an interesting question you pose.
When you think about it, with seemingly everyone carrying some type of electronic device capable of storing and organizing contact information, the natural assumption is that business cards are dying off.
We posed this exact same question to our blog readers:
18% responded that business cards are dying
43% responded that they aren’t dying
39% responded that they might not be dying, but they aren’t as effective as they used to be.
Based on this I would have to assume the answer to your question is that business cards aren’t passe. After all a high quality business cards are often the first impression someone has of you / your company. While it seems that many people are carrying some type of smart device, I recently read that it still only comprises less than 20% of the mobile market. That 80% is a large chunk to ignore.

Hi Jill,
Interesting. I usually use someone business card to get their email and phone number and then I rarely ever look at it again. But I’ve found that many people tend to be a lot behind the actual technologies of the time. So my vote as whether we’ll still see business cards is “yes”.
